What does POS decline fee mean?

The Bank shall not be responsible for the delay/ failure in carrying out the transactions due to any reasons whatsoever including failure of operational system or any other unforeseeable reasons which is beyond the control of the Bank. I think its unfair coz they are declining the transaction and charging as if they have given money for the credit though the account is out of funds. I don’t understand why should we pay D card charges every year when we are already payed for the card first time of rupees 250 for the card .. So in the case of ICICI Bank , the penalty charges are Rs 25 per failed transaction.

ANNEXURE II – FREE OF CHARGE ACCOUNTS
A rate confirmed by us and accepted by you for a transaction through the Phonebanking Service will be binding on you even though we may have quoted a different rate at any time through telephone or other means of communication. We have no duty to verify the identity of the person using your Phonebanking PIN to give Telephone Instructions. You should keep your Phonebanking PIN strictly confidential. You should not disclose your Phonebanking PIN or allow any other person to use your Phonebanking PIN .
The cardholder agrees that any debits received during the time of transactions will be honoured based only on the available balance in the account, without considering the pending refund. The cardholders also indemnify the bank from acts of dishonouring the payment instructions in such circumstances. If the amount is not credited within 30 days of such cancellation, the cardholder should notify the bank along with a copy of the credit slip issued by the ME. However, the bank shall not be held responsible for any drawings affected during the interval from the receipt of stop payment instructions until it is recorded in the ATM/computer.
There isn’t any fee or charges for POS transactions but for ATM withdrawals it is INR 100 + GST . This may be in addition to any fees charged by the ATM for the withdrawals. The Department of Posts, via a circular dated September 15, 2021, announced that it has introduced various charges on ATM cards which will come into effect from October 1, 2021.
Penalty charges due to Insufficient Funds
Subsequently, locker hirers need to pay the annual rent within 3 months after the beginning of the financial year (i.e before June end). The Customer has to immediately bring in to the notice of the Bank in case he/she notices unauthorized transactions in his / her accounts and make sure that the facility is deregistered for his / her mobile no. Customer can do maximum 10 transactions per day for every account linked upto a maximum value of Rs 1 lac.
What is POS decline charge in SBI?
State Bank of India: If a transaction is declined due to insufficient balance either for a Withdrawal or for a POS transaction then SBI will levy a Charge of Rs 20 + GST.
Breach or non-compliance to the rules/terms and conditions relating to the card and the account. Non-Resident Accounts

The Bank will not be liable for any consequential or indirect loss or damage, arising from or related to the loss / use of the Card. Any statements issued by the ATM at the time of deposit or withdrawal shall be conclusive unless verified otherwise by the Bank.
- In case of foreign currency fixed deposits, where no interest is payable on account of withdrawal prior to the minimum deposit tenure, the Bank may, at its sole discretion, levy a penalty to cover the swap cost, as permitted under extant regulations.

You should keep your PIN strictly confidential and should not allow any other person to access or use your PIN whether voluntarily or not.
Such deposits will be placed under the same customer ID as of the relevant savings / current account unless otherwise specified. A fixed deposit may only be placed in such currencies and with such minimum initial deposit with respect to a range of maturity tenures as determined by the Bank from time-to-time and this in turn is subject to RBI guidelines. Customers will repay to the Bank on demand and the amounts of overdrafts which the Bank may grant from time to time in the account together with the interest accrued thereon. This should not be construed as an agreement, either expressed or implied, that the Bank is bound to grant any overdraft facility whatsoever. For overdrawn accounts, interest is charged at prevailing interest rates on the daily outstanding in the accounts. In the absence of any special arrangements, the Bank is not required to honor any cheques drawn by the accountholders if in doing so the account would become overdrawn and in these circumstances the Bank reserves the right to debit the account with the charge for each returned cheque.

Do you get charged for a declined transactions?
Why is that? Don't worry, you are NEVER charged for declined orders. Your bank or credit card issuer still shows those charges as pending until they receive final confirmation that those orders were in fact declined, which usually happens in the evening.
